About Lynne Hanson

Lynne Hanson’s subject matter is often very personal, and is frequently inspired by memories of growing up in the horse country of Maryland and her struggles with breast cancer and body image. Her current works approach these themes using wood, metal, wax, and vintage seed beads, resulting in forms that simultaneously suggest pixilation and nature. Textile backgrounds and unusual tactile combinations in Lynne’s art stem from her career as a clothing designer with major companies like Pendleton Woolen Mills and her own independent clothing lines.  Lynne holds a post-graduate degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, with studies at Parsons School of Design. She now resides in Washington, DC, and Sun Valley, Idaho.
