Lynne Hanson’s current subject matter is very personal, inspired by memories of growing up in the horse country of Maryland. Her current home of Sun Valley, Idaho’s mountains also serve as inspiration.

The current work combine encaustics, charcoal and acrylic on wood and raw canvas. Her love of horses and fascination with horse’s legs is clearly evident in her paintings, along with her background in architecture, as she juxtaposes gesture drawings over an architectual drafting of the horse. To accentuate the freedom of her drawings, the canvas’ edges are intentionally left raw. Her works range from 10” x 12” to 36” x 72”, the larger the better.
